Billiards Billiards main cue sports are 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and Snooker. Snooker has a rich history throughout the world. Its popularity as a precision sport has grown immensely both in Canada and the United Kingdom. Canada has produced a good deal of international snooker heroes, and local legends. 9-ball and 8-ball are becoming very popular throughout Ontario, in part because of the long acceptance they have enjoyed in the United States. Young men and women are inclined to begin playing on the smaller playing surfaces used for 8-ball and 9-ball, and OBSA sees the growth of these sports as vital to the popularity of cue sports in general. In organized competitions "Room" level qualifying tournaments are held in order to qualify players in each of the three sports to the "City" level. Thereafter, players vie to advance to the "Regional" level, and then on to the Provincial Championships.
Sport Tournament Travel - Sports Tourism are a vital part of maintaining amateur sport a the local levels. Sport Travel is also good for local economies and can bring millions of sport tourism dollars to cities all across Canada. |
