Freestyle Skiing Moguls - competitors are challenged by a steep (23-32 degrees) 200-270 metre long bump-covered course. Scores are based on technical turning ability and strong, aggressive fall-line skiing. Two spontaneous upright jumps must be performed during each run with minimal interruption to the line of the run or to the rhythm of the turns. Aerials - the site consist of an in-run, where the skier builds speed, leading to several ramps (kickers and floaters) and a landing area 34-39 degrees steep and 30 metros long. In the aerial event, the skier must perform two different jumps, wither in an upright or inverted position. Ballet - the event is held on a gentle slope (10-14 degrees) 250-270 metres long. Each competitor performs a choreographed routine for two and a quarter minutes. Similar to figure skating, the routine is composed of a variety of spins, dance-like steps, multiple rotation jumps, and ‹ unique to freestyle skiing. Combined - although skiers must compete in one or more events, only those who take part in all three are considered combined skiers. They are eligible for combined medals at each competition.
