Hiking
A Brief Overview:
Hiking is defined
as hiking and walking trails, and the organized associations have a mandate
to promote walking, hiking and trail development.
There are hiking days
in many provinces that promote hiking with a focus on families, new hikers
and community groups.
Trail clubs sponsor
individual programs that include awards for walking trails in a specific
period of time. Hiking has developed and implimented accreditation programs
for hiking leaders, which isto any person seeking accreditation
to lead group hikes.
Member organizations
include Trails from accross the country, such as the Bruce Trail, and
Rideau Trail. In addition to organized hiking, recreational hiking exists
in many forms and is practised by virtually everyone at some period in
time.
