Swimming
A Brief History:
Swimming is a health
recreational and competitive activity that can be enjoyed by all, regardless
of age, gender or ability.
Swimming/Natation
Canada (SNC) is the sport governing body for swimming in Canada and together
with provincial sections. learn to swim partners, Canadian
Swimming Coaches Association
(CSCA) and Masters Swimming Canada (MSC), offer and provide opportunities
at all levels. Our partner I CAN SWIM Inc. offers a comprehensive learn
to swim program (I CAN SWIM) and skill development program (I CAN SWIM
FAST) that can be adopted by any facility with a pool.
The provincial sections
offer pre-competitive and competitive programs and competitions, in conjunction
with the almost 500 clubs across the country. The CSCA is responsible
for the education and development of the swimming coaches in Canada.
MSC offers opportunities
for ³fun, fitness and fellowship² through training and competition for
individuals who are 20 years and older. SNC is involved in coaching, officiating,
swimming education, sport science, event coordination, sport marketing
and the programming for swimming at the nation and international level.
